Our History

Unity Printing Company, Inc. was founded in 1979 by James Ernette. What began as a part-time business--initially operated from a garage--grew quickly. Over the years, the acquisition of several small printing companies contributed to the company’s growth and established it as a leader in the market.

Today Unity Printing is under the direction of Ernette’s daughter, Lisa Frederick, and her husband, George J. Frederick. In 2014, it achieved certification as a woman-owned business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

Now in its third decade as a full service printing company, Unity Printing is proud to welcome the family’s third generation to the business: Ashley Frederick, daughter of Lisa and George, who recently completed her degree in Family Enterprise at Stetson University. The Fredericks also have a son, Cole, who works for the business part-time while attending Greater Latrobe Senior High School.

Located just south of Latrobe along Route 981 in Westmoreland County, Pa., the company’s facilities are comprised of 12,500 square feet of functional space and 5,000 square feet of warehouse space.

Unity Printing Co. is dedicated to its core niche: small to medium run lengths of full-color print jobs. With four presses and a full bindery department, any size project up to a sheet size of 23” x 29” is possible. In the spirit of its founder, the company embraces new ideas and technologies and has transitioned from traditional offset printing to digital printing, but retains offset capabilities to meet any customer’s needs.
